Committees facing elimination

It didn’t take long for the new council to start to reverse some of the decisions of the former one, not only requesting the rescinding of some by-laws/policies (see last week’s council story), but they also made a motion at their inaugural meeting to get recommendations on either to consolidation or disbanding a number of committees that was introduced last term.

 

This council is also preparing to discuss the disbanding and rescinding of the Recreation Advisory Committee set up by last council and possibly reinstating the former Recreation Board.

The committees that will be on a future agenda for discussion are: Cochrane Active Transportation Advisory Committee, Cochrane Age Friendly Advisory Committee, Cochrane Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, Cochrane Beautification Advisory Committee, Cochrane Festival and Events Committee, Cochrane Physician Recruitment and Retention Advisory Committee, Cochrane Rural Advisory Committee, Property Standards Committee and the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Cabinet.
Councillors members were also appointed the various committees and boards that they will be sitting on for the upcoming term.
